AMARILLO, TEXAS — Whole Earth Farms, a Merrick Pet Care brand, recently launched a line of new-and-improved wet and dry dog food formulas. These products feature updated packaging to highlight key ingredients and inform pet owners on the nutritional needs of their dogs.
“We recognize that consumer preferences change over time, so we are refreshing our Whole Earth Farms brand to ensure we continue to meet the needs of today’s pet parents,” said Carrie Boromisa, brand manager for Whole Earth Farms. “With a recognizable brand name and top selling recipes, we will build on our strong foundation with new recipes that will differentiate our offerings in the marketplace and give pet parents more reasons to believe in our brand.”
The new packaging features farm images and “real food photography” to call attention to the high-quality natural ingredients in each diet. The new bags also include a food pyramid for dog nutrition.
Whole Earth Farms formulas are developed by an internal team of veterinarians and pet nutrition experts, according to Merrick. The first ingredient in each formula is either pork, beef, lamb, turkey, chicken, salmon or whitefish protein. The diets are also supplemented with vegetables and fruits, as well as added vitamins, minerals and nutrients, to create a balanced meal.
“We use a blend of carrots, apples and flaxseed in our updated Whole Earth Farms recipes because this combination of ingredients provides a great source of Omega fatty acids, which help dogs build a strong immune system and healthy skin and coat,” said RuthAnn Lobos, DVM, lead veterinarian with Merrick Pet Care. “Our updated recipes also deliver guaranteed levels of glucosamine and chondroitin to support a dog’s healthy hips and other joints.”
The brand was first introduced in 2009 as an accessible, natural dog food option. The brand is currently available across the United States at Petco, PetSmart, and independent pet store locations, as well as online.
