PORTLAND, ORE. — Portland Pet Food Company announced July 26 its human-grade dog food toppers will now be available in Canada. The pet food company has partnered with Pet Valu, a pet retailer with more than 600 stores across the country.
Pet Valu will sell four Portland Pet Food meal toppers for dogs at select stores, including Rosie’s Beef N’ Rice, Wally’s Salmon N’ Rice, Hopkins’ Pork N’ Potato, and Tuxedo’s Chicken & Yams formulas.
“We’re excited to expand our reach across Canada by forming a relationship with such a great retailer like Pet Valu,” said Katie McCarron, founder of Portland Pet Food. “We launched PPFC in 2014 by selling at Portland farmers markets, and today I’m thrilled that we’re widely available across my home country. I know that my Canadian relatives are excited, too, as they’ve already gone out to find PPFC at their local Pet Valu!”
Portland Pet Food Company offers complete-and-balanced, human-grade dog food formulas, as well as human-grade meal toppers and treats. The company sources fresh, natural ingredients throughout the Pacific Northwest United States. Each product contains less than 12 ingredients and is preservative-free.
“Pet Valu is proud to offer a wide selection of pet food in Canada, and we’re delighted that we can now offer our customers PPFC’s dog food toppers,” says Kendalee McKay, chief merchandising officer at Pet Valu. “These high-quality, delicious toppers add variety to meals, helping ensure picky eaters, senior dogs and dogs with sensitive stomachs get the nutrition they need.”
Pet Valu operates under several store names across Canada, including Pet Valu, Bosley’s by Pet Valu, Total Pet, Paulmac’s Pets, and Tisol Pet Nutrition and Supply.
McCarron is a Canadian native, born in New Westminster, British Columbia. She says her Canadian roots have inspired many of her business ideas. Her dog, Winnie, is named after Winnipeg, Manitoba, where her mother was born.
