SEATTLE — Austin and Kat announced July 13 the launch of two functional meal toppers for dogs designed for joint support. The two topper recipes — Bakko’s Joint Support and Daily Joint Support — represent the brand’s first non-CBD pet supplement product.

The Joint Support line is formulated with extract from sustainably sourced, aqua-cultured New Zealand green lipped mussels as the main ingredient, which delivers a concentrated supply of furan fatty acids.

The Daily Joint Support formula also includes Longvida™ Optimized Curcumin, a proprietary turmeric extract developed by Verdure Sciences, a National Animal Supplement Council (NASC) preferred supplier.

Bakko’s Joint Support formula includes adaptogens — plant-based ingredients with alleged health benefits for people and pets — including Boswellia gum and reishi mushroom extract, as well as glucosamine to promote the development of cartilage, reduce joint stiffness and maintain connective tissues, according to the company.

“As Austin is approaching his seventh birthday, I realized I needed to focus on his joint health,” said Kat Donatello, founder and chief executive officer of Austin and Kat. “Knowing how many other pet parents are faced with similar situations, it seemed only natural to create the very best product based on the science and research. Our team didn’t just put New Zealand Green Lipped Mussel in a jar, but combined it with the powerful curcumin extract we were already using in our soft chews.”
