KANSAS CITY, MO. — Three Dog Bakery has partnered with Bar K, a dog park slash restaurant and bar slash event space located in the riverfront area of downtown Kansas City, to open a retail boutique for the more than 200,000 dog owners who visit the dog-friendly spot each year.
The new addition, dubbed Three Dog Bakery @ Bar K, is expected to open in July 2021. Construction is currently underway. Three Dog Bakery’s on-site retail space will be located on the east side of Bar K, near Petfinder Park.
“Three Dog Bakery® is America’s original dog bakery and we have been helping pet parents celebrate birthdays, gotcha days and key milestones in their pets’ lives for over 30 years,” said Joe Dent, president of franchising and corporate bakeries at Three Dog Bakery. “Having a location right in the middle of Bar K’s highly experiential campus will take the ritual of celebration to a whole new level.”
Three Dog Bakery @ Bar K will sell freshly baked dog treats and cakes, collars, leashes, toys and chews.
“We host a lot of dog birthday parties at Bar K,” said Dave Hensley, founding partner of Bar K. “Now, our customers will be able to visit Three Dog Bakery® @ Bar K to select and decorate a birthday cake or cookie right on our premises!”
Three Dog Bakery was founded in 1989 and is headquartered in Kansas City. The dog bakery operates more than 45 retail franchises across the United States, Canada and in Hong Kong. The company’s products are also sold in independent pet stores and through mass merchandise retailers.
“This will make Bar K an even more indispensable part of the lifestyle of dog lovers in Kansas City,” added Leib Dodell, founding partner of Bar K. “Now, in addition to spending time with their dogs and their friends in our joyful space, pet owners will be able to pick up treats, cakes, and other essentials from the best pet bakery and boutique in the country.”
Bar K is currently building two additional dog-friendly facilities in St. Louis and Oklahoma City.
