SPRINGDALE, ARK. — Last month, Tyson Pet Products launched its first complete-and-balanced dog food portfolio, True Meals™. The company highlighted nutrition, taste and texture as the key selling points for these formulas.
These dog food formulas are exclusively available at Petco’s brick-and-mortar stores and e-commerce platform. They are part of Petco’s recent pet nutrition expansion, in which the retailer introduced two new WholeHearted Plus private label dog food formulas and added several new veterinary pet foods and Tyson’s new True Meals dog food products to its shelves.
“When pet parents are selecting a new food for their dog, it’s important that they choose an offering that is able to satisfy them through taste, flavor and nutrition,” said Monica Bobak, senior brand manager of True Meals Dog Food. “True Meals Dog Food features a unique texture that is made from real protein, vegetables and vitamins for a signature taste.”
The line includes two formulas — one Multi Protein diet available in puppy, small dog and adult dog varieties, and one Chicken Recipe — each designed in partnership with pet nutritionists and culinary experts, Tyson stated. The Chicken Recipe is designed for adult dogs only.
Each diet includes baked proteins sourced in the United States, as well as vegetables, added vitamins, minerals and amino acids. Tyson described its True Meals dog foods to have a “signature texture compromised of crunchy and chewy bits that excite dogs’ tastebuds.”
The Multi Protein formula includes chicken, fish and beef proteins. Both formulas incorporate sweet potatoes and green beans as the key vegetable ingredients.
General Mills completed its acquisition of Tyson Pet Products for $1.2 billion on July 6.
