DONGEN, THE NETHERLANDS — Protix announced June 21 the appointment of Paul van der Raad as its new global commercial director of pet food, effective Aug. 1. Van der Raad will lead the company’s efforts in understanding pet owner needs and meeting a growing demand for insect ingredients for pet nutrition products.

Van der Raad has worked in the pet industry since 1997, most recently serving as chief executive officer of Henne Pet Food, a Danish manufacturer. Earlier in his career, he spent 20 years at another Danish pet food manufacturing company, Vital Petfood Group, where he gained experience with private label and branded international product manufacturing, trading and retailing.

He brings leadership experience, as well as private equity and general business experiences, to his new role with Protix.

In his new role, van der Raad will spearhead the insect processor’s commercial and sales strategies for the pet nutrition category.
