HATFIELD, PA. — Annamaet Petfoods Inc. on Feb. 22 reintroduced its Canine Companion dog treat line with new package designs and biodegradable bags.
The line, which includes a Salcha Treat poultry formula, Aqualuk Treat cold water formula, and Lean Treat low-fat formula, will now be packaged in bags made with BioFlex™ biodegradable materials. BioFlex materials will break down in a landfill, making them more eco-friendly than traditional plastics.
“One of our biggest goals is to put the same amount of thought and care into what we feed our dogs, as we do with how we preserve and protect our planet,” said Robert Downey, founder and president of Annamaet. “We are excited to expand our eco-friendly bags into Canine Companion Treat line, taking us one step closer to a more sustainable pet industry.”
Annamaet introduced environmentally friendly packaging for all its dog and cat food products in 2019, and has continued that initiative now with its Canine Companion treat line.
The treats are meat-based, baked and grain-free, and include functional ingredients to target key areas of dog health and wellness. The Salcha Treat formula includes cage-free, low-ash chicken, as well as L-Carnitine and other vitamins and minerals to support lean muscle mass and healthy cognition. The Aqualuk Treat is formulated with wild-caught salmon and herring, as well as algae as an eco-friendly source of Omega-3 fatty acids. Annamaet’s Lean Treats are lower in fat for dogs with weight control concerns, and are formulated with DHA and prebiotics to support cognition and digestion.
The package redesigns reflect the company’s growing super-premium pet food, treat and supplement products. The new packages will also be smaller than the old ones, now available in 7-oz bags for improved freshness, Annamaet stated.
