Rachael Ray and her flagship dog nutrition brand, Nutrish, are celebrating senior dog adoptions this Valentine’s Day by partnering with Muttville Senior Dog Rescue in San Francisco.

Thanks to contributions from a private donor, all adoptions of senior dogs by senior citizens over the age of 50 will be fully funded. The Nutrish brand will provide a year’s worth of free Nutrish dog food and cover the cost of initial veterinary visits.

The campaign is supported by The Rachael Ray Foundation, which is partially funded by Nutrish sales to support shelter pet adoptions. The adoption event will last throughout the month of February.

Muttville will host a virtual event on Feb. 12 reaching out to senior citizens in California to encourage adoptions.

Rachael Ray and Muttville cited a study by the University of Michigan that indicated more than 85% of people between the ages of 50 and 80 said their pets help them to enjoy life and make them feel loved.
