ARLINGTON, VA. — The American Feed Industry Association (AFIA) has opted to postpone its 2021 Purchasing Ingredient Suppliers Conference (PISC), originally scheduled for March 9-11, to Aug. 17-19 due to COVID-19 concerns.
The event will be held in Orlando, Fla. in August to accommodate an in-person format.
"We have decided to postpone PISC so that more of our members will be able to safely participate in person," said Veronica Rovelli, senior director of meetings and events for AFIA. "Please note that we made this decision in close consultation with our members and partners, who felt it would allow us to provide the quality experience they have come to expect while protecting the health and safety of our attendees and staff. Whether you will be joining us in sunny Orlando or participating virtually from your hometown, PISC is and will continue to be where business gets done!"
AFIA will offer two options for attendees for the rescheduled show: in-person or hybrid participation. Due to the uncertain nature of the pandemic, the organization will allow attendees who are unable to travel in August the option to participate virtually through online educational and networking components.
A tentative agenda includes discussions about plant-based product trends, an update on African Swine Fever and foreign animal diseases, political and trade outlooks, and other topics.
For its 2020 PISC, AFIA held a series of webinars in place of an in-person event due to the onset of COVID-19.
