EAGAN, MINN. — SOMIC America, an end-of-line packaging solutions company, announced Nov. 10 the appointment of Ryan Schumacher as sales manager for the East Coast.

Previously, Schumacher worked as a mechanical packaging systems specialist with Westrock Automated Packaging Systems, based in Orlando, Fla. Westrock offers fully automatic case erectors, packers, tray formers and wraparound systems for several industries.

Additionally, Schumacher draws experience from a variety of sales positions throughout his career, in which he built relationships with Fortune 500 companies including Conagra Foods, Nestlé USA and Tyson Foods.

“My first job after graduation was in the finance world, but I learned I was more passionate and excited about solution selling,” Schumacher said. “That passion and my competitive nature will help me sell SOMIC’s automated equipment. My biggest immediate challenge will be getting the word out about SOMIC up and down the Eastern seaboard, but I am really impressed with the mechatronic products we have to offer in the cartoning world.”

Schumacher will be based in Wilmington, N.C. and report directly to Peter Fox, senior vice president of sales at SOMIC. Schumacher earned his bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Illinois.
