LIVONIA, MICH. — Pet Supplies Plus announced Oct. 7 it was named among Entrepreneur Magazine’s list of “Top Growth Franchises” for 2020. The pet product retailer was No. 104 on the list.
"We've always been a recession-resistant franchise and our strength and stability during 2020 has only solidified our brand's track record of success," said Chris Rowland, chief executive officer of Pet Supplies Plus. "One of the reasons pet passionate candidates are joining Pet Supplies Plus, is because of our continuous growth and innovation benefits both for our locally-owned stores and corporate locations."
The pet product retailer has been on a steady growth path, signing 81 new franchise agreements throughout the United States in 2019 and celebrating its 500th store opening in 2020. The company has signed 36 new franchise agreements so far in 2020, which will add 59 new stores.
Due to a surge in e-commerce purchases during the COVID-19 pandemic, Pet Supplies Plus recorded 2,275% growth in online sales from January to April 2020.
"Retail works when it is powered by passion-driven individuals that genuinely love what they do and who they do it for," Rowland added. "Often times our owners can be found on the sales floor alongside their knowledgeable team members for in-store shopping as well as overseeing streamlined online ordering, curbside pickup and delivery."
The list includes 150 companies and was published in the September issue of Entrepreneur. The magazine uses franchise growth over the last three years, accounting for negative growth factors such as non-renewals and closures, to determine its Top Growth Franchises.
