NORTH PORT, Fla. — Complete Animal Nutrition, a Florida-based pet product distributor, announced Feb. 11 it has merged with Michigan-based SmartPetLove to become Choice Pet Products. SmartPetLove’s own products will be exclusively distributed through Choice Pet Products going forward.

The company will represent a diverse range of high-quality pet brands and products, including pet food and treat options. Choice Pet Products was named for its vision of being selective in their distribution decisions and only carrying pet food, treat and product brands that it deems “the highest quality.”

“With both of our company values aligned, it felt like a natural fit to combine our resources and work together,” said Doug Horiski, vice president of business development for Choice Pet Products. “Complete Animal Nutrition and SmartPetLove have become successful by focusing on our customer relationships. Together we can expand those relationships and offer a larger product selection and quality service to our customers in the Southeast region and beyond.”

Leadership at both companies will continue running the combined business to ensure “continuity of service, relationships and customer experience,” Choice Pet Products said. Currently, the distributor is seeking new distribution partnerships with brands and retailers.

“Our primary goal will be to find brands that complement each other and give our retail partners the tools they need to be successful in today’s competitive marketplace,” added Bob Sledzinski, vice president of independent retail sales and operations.

Initially founded in 2014, Choice Pet Products previously consisted of a team of brand ambassadors who provided a distinctive product mix and educational materials to retailers about high-quality dog nutrition.

Choice Pet Products will be at Global Pet Expo Feb. 26-28 at SmartPetLove’s booth, #6266.
