ST. LOUIS, Mo. — Whitebridge Pet Brands announced Jan. 24 it has expanded its brand portfolio with the acquisition of Azusa, California-based Cardinal Pet Care, which manufactures several pet products including three dog treat brands: Full Life for Pets, Pet Botanics and Only Healthy Source.

Financial details about the acquisition were not disclosed by Whitebridge.

Whitebridge was born from a January 2015 merger of Cloud Star and Petropics, which brought Cloud Star dog treats and Tiki Pets pet food and treat products under the same corporate umbrella. Whitebridge acquired Dogswell in April 2017, a brand of jerky dog treats. It also owns Buddy Biscuits, another pet treat brand.

Now, the company will manage 11 pet product brands.

Cardinal Pet Care was founded in 1948. Pet industry professional Tony de Vos, who is also a founding member of the Pet Sustainability Coalition, has run the company as president since 1982.

Cardinal Pet Care’s other brands include three grooming product lines, as well as a brand of grooming, first aid and hygiene products for dogs.
