LIVONIA, Mich. — Pet Supplies Plus, a rapidly growing pet specialty retailer and one of the largest franchises in the US, achieved impressive growth throughout 2019 with 81 signed agreements for new locations.
The retailer secured what will be its first franchises in South Dakota and Nevada during 2019, and expanded agreements in Texas, New York, Florida and California.
Out of the 81 agreements signed during 2019, 32 were new franchises and are expected to result in 53 new stores. Additionally, 11 existing franchises reinvested to build 27 more Pet Supplies Plus locations across the country.
By June 2019, the retailer had signed 22 new agreements resulting in 46 new locations. Its full-year goal for 2019 was to add 50 new Pet Supplies Plus stores across the US, which it exceeded.
"It's incredibly gratifying to see new franchisees and existing owners continue to invest in our brand," said Chris Rowland, CEO of Pet Supplies Plus. "Coming into the year, we thought we set a lofty-but-attainable unit-growth goal for our system, and we surpassed that number by 30 stores. It's validation that our candidates and current franchisees believe in the value we provide neighbors and their pets."
The Pet Supplies Plus franchise business was acquired by Sentinel Capital Partners in December 2018, at which point the retailer operated 448 stores across 33 states.
