KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The 43rd Annual Purchasing Seminar, designed for ingredient procurement, market analysis, risk assessment, supply chain management and corporate planning professionals, will return to Kansas City in 2020. The seminar will take place May 31 to June 2, 2020 at the Sheraton Hotel at Crown Center. Registration opened Dec. 4.
Sosland Publishing Company hosts the annual seminar to provide a platform for connection, education and discussion on the latest challenges, opportunities and threats facing the ingredient and commodity markets, as well as the meat and poultry complex. Topics include trends, weather and economic impacts, energy, and the influence of legislation and regulatory bodies.
Sean Connolly, CEO of Conagra Brands, will present the keynote address on the morning of Monday, June 1. The agenda will also include several panels and breakout discussions on specific ingredient markets, including bakery flour and cash wheat, feed grains, edible oils and shortening, sweeteners and sugars, packaging, organics and proteins, to name a few.
On Tuesday, June 2, four speakers will discuss key trends and outlooks on overarching aspects of the food industry. Robbie Fraser, senior commodity analyst at Schneider Electric, will speak about the energy markets; Scott Colbert, executive VP, director of fixed income and chief economist at The Commerce Trust Co., will discuss the economy; David Portalatin, VP and industry advisor for The NPD Group, will talk about overall trends; and Jim Ritchie, president and CEO of Redstone Logistics, will discuss transportation.
Cocktail receptions, meals and other opportunities for networking will be available throughout the seminar.
