KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Schenck Process Group won the Red Dot Award in August for the interface design of its newest weighing control unit, CONiQ. The interface was developed in partnership with Custom Interactions, a German company specializing in user-friendly interface designs for a variety of products.
The user interface was awarded for being easy to understand, operate and likeable to users. The weighing solution is designed for industrial applications but versatile for different environments and tasks across industries.
CONiQ continuously measures parameters such as temperature and vibration for weighing solutions to detect damage or condition-based maintenance for the equipment.
“This is really a breakthrough for Schenck Process to be recognized as a company having significant capabilities in designing excellent user interfaces,” said Peter Groll, chief technology officer at Schenck Process.
Red Dot was founded in 1954 as an agency in part “to modernize German consumer goods and make them fit for export,” according to the company’s website. Today, its Red Dot Award is one of the most renowned design achievements in the world, drawing more than 18,000 entries per year.
Dr. Peter Zec, founder and CEO of the Red Dot Award, added, “For around 65 years, the Red Dot Award as one of the world’s largest design competitions has been providing a platform for designers, agencies and companies to evaluate good design. I want to congratulate the laureates sincerely on their distinction, which both bears testimony to their convincing performance and highlights their quality and design leadership.”
