SOUTH HACKENSACK, N.J. — C.W. Brabender welcomed Ryan Kowalski on Aug. 19 as the company’s newest food extrusion specialist. In his new role, Kowalski will be responsible for driving the development of single- and twin-screw extrusion applications and assisting clients with formulation.
Kowalski is a member of AACCI and IFT, has published 14 research papers on food extrusion and presented his research findings at several conferences. He has two years of food industry extrusion and processing experience, previously having developed textured protein ingredients, protein crisps and rice crisps.
Kowalski earned his bachelor’s in chemistry from Case Western Reserve University and received his doctorate in food science from Washington State University. He intensively studied food extrusion processing throughout his doctorate program, including helping industry members work through extrusion problems and teaching an extrusion processing course to food industry members.
