AUBURN, Ky. — Champion Petfoods on Aug. 20 added four new formulas to its ACANA Regionals and Singles dog food lines. All four new formulas include grains and utilize “whole prey nutrition,” meaning they include animal meat, organs and cartilage.
ACANA Singles additions include duck and lamb recipes, with each limited-ingredient formula featuring 60% animal-based ingredients. They also include fresh pumpkin for digestive support.
Champion’s new ACANA Regionals formulas feature “free-run poultry” and “wild-caught fish” animal proteins, each including four to five protein sources in each category. The diets, ACANA Kentucky Farmlands and American Waters, are also infused with freeze-dried liver.
These new regional and limited-ingredient diets include a blend of various vitamin Bs, vitamin E, taurine and choline to support heart function and overall health. All four diets are free from gluten, legumes and GMOs, and all ingredients, including grains like oats and sorghum, are regionally sourced.
“Today’s pet lovers are being inundated with confusing messages about pet foods and their ingredients. With these new formulas, Champion continues to lead the way in providing pet lovers with a selection of choices that best meet their individual needs while staying true to our biologically appropriate mandate,” said Don King, vice president of marketing at Champion Petfoods.
New ACANA Singles and Regionals formulas are manufactured at Champion’s DogStar Kitchens in Auburn, Kentucky, and will hit pet specialty retail shelves in Fall 2019.
Champion is exhibiting its new ACANA products at SuperZoo through Aug. 22 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
