META, Mo. — Diamond Pet Foods on August 6 released a new pet food formula for high-performance hunting, sporting and working dogs. The formula, Diamond Pro89, includes 89% protein from animal-based ingredients.

The new dog diet is available in one formula — beef, pork and ancient grains — for adult dogs. Overall, the protein content is 30% protein and 20% fat to promote lean muscle maintenance.

“Active dogs need specialized nutrition for optimal performance, from everyday exercise to competition weekends. And whether they’re zipping through an agility course, herding sheep, hunting game or chasing down criminals, sporting and working dogs can benefit from eating a food formulated just for them,” said Mark Brinkmann, VP of operations at Diamond.

Beef and pork are the first two ingredients in this diet. The diet is appropriate to feed dogs daily, according to Diamond, because it includes all essential amino acids, antioxidants and probiotics to support overall health and wellness.

Diamond said its Pro89 formula includes added glucosamine and chondroitin to promote joint health as well. The company added each pound of the dog food delivers 80 million colony forming units of live, active probiotic cultures.

This performance formula was developed by veterinary professionals, pet food nutritionists and food science experts, according to Diamond.

Diamond Pet Foods will be exhibiting at booth #2820 during SuperZoo August 20 to 22 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
