CHICAGO — Wesley Uhlmeyer, president of the grain group at Archer Daniels Midland Co. since March 2016, has stepped down for personal reasons. Christopher L. Boerm, currently president of ADM’s transportation group, will add the title of president of grain.

Boerm joined ADM in 1991 and has held a variety of merchandising and management positions, including as president of grain from April 2014 to April 2016. Earlier, he was an adviser to the office of the chairman, and he also was vice-president and general manager of Eastern grain and corn processing origination and a senior merchandising manager for corn processing.

He received a bachelor’s degree in finance and management from Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa, and a master’s degree in business administration from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Uhlmeyer had been with ADM for 20 years, including the past three years as president of ADM’s grain group. Earlier, he held positions including vice-president of export trading, senior merchandising manager of corn co-products, crude and export oil trader, and commodity merchandiser.

The announcement comes just a few days after ADM said sales and commercial staff members of ADM Milling Co. will be relocated to ADM’s North American headquarters in Decatur, Illinois, from ADM Milling offices in Overland Park, Kansas. ADM has told employees globally it is planning “a range of actions” to bolster its business. These include a voluntary early retirement program available to eligible employees and “realigning our organization worldwide.”
