PITTSBURGH — PetGuard, a brand of natural dog and cat foods, treats, supplements and grooming products, has appointed four new members to executive leadership roles. The new executives are pet industry veterans tasked with expanding the brand’s pet specialty presence in the US.
Three of the new hires previously worked for Ainsworth Pet Nutrition.
Bill Shaner will come on as managing partner and CEO. Shaner brings senior executive experience from previous positions with Save-A-Lot food stores, Kroger and Supervalu.
Anthony Scarpino will join PetGuard as CFO. He previously worked at Ainsworth Pet Nutrition, which was acquired by The J.M. Smucker Company in 2018, and held operational management positions at Kraft Heinz and H. J. Heinz.
Dave Fedorchak, who also worked for Ainsworth Pet Nutrition in the past, will serve as VP of procurement and product development. He brings extensive knowledge and experience in the development of consumer-packaged goods. His experience includes senior buyer and project manager at H. J. Heinz, and food scientist and technologist at Unilever.
Cameron Palmer will join PetGuard as VP of supply chain. Palmer previously held leadership roles at Ainsworth Pet Nutrition, including continuous improvement specialist, supply chain analyst, and contract manufacturing manager for its Rachael Ray Nutrish brand.
“We’re confident that we’ve brought together an exceptional leadership team,” Shaner said. “Our retail experience and broad industry knowledge of pet nutrition puts us in an excellent position to take our brand to the next level and grow our national presence.”
PetGuard was founded in 1979. Its pet foods are formulated with natural ingredients, free of preservatives, artificial colors and sweeteners.
