ARLINGTON, Va. — John Stewart, a member of the American Feed Industry Association (AFIA), has been appointed to the organization’s newly created role of director of membership and stakeholder engagement, effective May 2019. Stewart previously served for two years as AFIA’s manager of government affairs.
As director of membership and stakeholder engagement, Stewart will seek prospective members and focus on attaining, retaining and servicing AFIA’s member companies. He will lead efforts in the focus, design and implementation of the organization’s membership program, including the development and continuous improvement of involvement among members, and member retention.
“John Stewart’s knowledge of how AFIA operates, the issues facing the animal food industry and the engagement opportunities in the legislative and regulatory process make him a great fit for this role,” said Sarah Novak, AFIA’s vice president of membership and public relations. “We are very excited for him to talk with current and potential members about getting more involved with AFIA.”
Additionally, Stewart will be responsible for AFIA’s overall state affairs and the coordination of legislative and regulatory staff involved in those affairs.
Stewart previously worked under Rep. David Rouzer, R-N.C., as a staff assistant, with the National Association of State Departments of Agriculture, and with Elanco Animal Health.
