The Food Processing Suppliers Association (FPSA) on April 3 announced it has elected 21 members to the board of directors for its pet food council. The pet food council is FPSA’s newest industry committee, created in July 2018, and is already larger than the association’s other councils representing the bakery, beverage, daily, meat, and prepared foods industries.

Members of the board will represent the pet food sector in FPSA’s overarching board of directors.

"The response to this announcement from FPSA membership has been tremendous. In fact, the member interest was so overwhelming that this group, which would eventually be elected to the council board, became FPSA's largest council in a matter of just a few months,” said Tom Hoffmann, chairman of the Pet Food Council and director of sales for MEPACO. “We have hosted some spirited meetings and are looking forward to what we can achieve as a group. We have already held excellent technical sessions at the recent FPSA Annual Conference and are now planning on having an impact at this year's PROCESS EXPO."

Jarrod McCarroll, chairman of FPSA and president of Weber, Inc., added, "FPSA is the only horizontal organization with members that provide manufacturing solutions for all of the food and beverage verticals and pet food fits very well within this spectrum whether it be for processing, packaging, or food safety. This inaugural council board is eager to make its mark with new programs that create value for both suppliers and pet food manufacturers alike."
